Robbie Manthé

Head of Design, Twenty One Twelve

Robbie caught the design bug at eight years old after watching his godfather work in a design studio. While other kids were dreaming of becoming astronauts or footballers, he was fascinated by grids, typefaces and whatever mysterious magic turned blank paper into something worth looking at. Twenty years later, not much has changed.

After studying Brand Communication at Vega School, he’s worked his way through agencies large and small, collecting experience across branding, visual identity, digital design, presentations, print and web, while quietly becoming the person people ask to make complicated things look simple.

He’s still happiest solving design problems, still gets far too excited about good typography, and still can’t imagine doing anything else. Which, as lifelong obsessions go, could be worse.

"Good design isn't about making things look clever. It's about making things make sense."
